Description:

Protex is a range of chemically formulated products for use in wet central heating systems.  They are designed to combat the problems of corrosion, scaling and sludge inherent in central heating systems.

Due to corrosion which is inherent in wet central heating systems small pin whole leaks sometimes occur in pipe work or radiators. Protex Leaksealant will seal any small pin holing in the system that may appear there by dispensing with the task of replacing components such as radiators.

Features:

  • Seals pin hole leaks & fractures

  • Extends system life

  • Reduces the need for frequent system Re-pressurisation

  • May not substitute any repair work which may be necessary

Application:

Protex Leaksealant is a chemically formulated product for the use in wet central heating systems. It is recommended for use in sealing pin holes and small fractures and is suitable for all mixed metal systems including those containing aluminium elements.

The recommended in-use concentration of the product is 1%. 1 Litre of Protex Leaksealant is all that is required to treat a typical 100L domestic central heating system. For larger systems or trade applications 20 Litre drums are also available. Each 1 litre Protex container includes a label to be appropriately located advising the CH system user that Protex has/is being used in the system. A multiple supply of the same label is supplied with the 20 Litre Protex drum.

Directions for Use:

  1. Protex Leaksealant is recommended for use in sealing pin holes and small fractures. It does not substitute any repair work which may be necessary.

  1. Leaksealant is a silicone based product, and its viscosity is affected by temperature. Placing the 1 litre bottle into a container of warm water and leaving to stand for 5-10 min's will aid flow of the product

  1. Turn off boiler prior to treatment.

  1. Add Protex Leaksealant to the system via the header tank or radiator. For best results drain a couple of litres of water from the system before adding the sealant. Top up with the water to ensure dispersion.

  1. When the system is full again turn on the boiler and pump and circulate for a few minutes to ensure even distribution.

  1. Apply treatment information label provided in an appropriate location close to the boiler or filling point.

Storage:

The product may be stored at normal ambient temperatures and has a shelf life of not less than 24 months with correct storage.
