Description:
The “Y” strainer is a type of filter fitted into a water piping system to remove large particles of dirt and debris. The body is made entirely of bronze and the strainer is made from stainless steel. It is important that an isolation valve is fitted upstream of the “Y” strainer. This will facilitate the removal of the strainer for cleaning purposes. The strainer is removed by unscrewing the large nut which is fitted at 45° to the horizontal. The strainer is positioned at this angle in order to trap the largest amount of debris while at the same time providing maximum flow of water inside.. Y Strainers are available with female iron BSP threaded connections ranging in size from ½” through to 2” on either side.
