Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMVs) blend hot water and cold water together. They employ a temperature sensitive element which expands and contracts depending on the temperature of the water entering the valve. This expansion and contraction alters the size of the apertures through which the hot and cold water enters the valve, thereby balancing and controlling the water leaving the outlet, and so greatly reduces the risk of scalding accidents. Thermostatic mixing valves ideally should be used in all cases where there is a risk of scalding to the user; notably the very young, the very old and those requiring special needs. They are fitted to the hot inlet pipe directly before the terminal fitting. They require a hot and cold water supply to work. Please click on a product below for further information.
